About Mbira Baskets

Mbira Baskets is a father-and-son business with a simple idea behind it: bring the handwoven craft of Zimbabwe's Zambezi River region to homes and shelves across the UK, and make sure the people who make it are paid properly for their skill.

One of us works close to the source in Zimbabwe, building the relationships with the weavers - women practising a craft passed down through generations - and choosing each piece by hand. The other runs the UK side from London: stock, accounts, and getting orders to you. No middlemen, no mass production. Just a direct line from the maker to your business.

Every piece is made entirely by hand from natural ilala palm, vivid coiled wire, or reclaimed metal - which means no two are ever identical. For your customers, that's the appeal: genuine, one-of-a-kind craft with a story worth telling, in a market full of machine-made sameness.

Built for trade

We supply independent retailers, interior designers, hotels, restaurants and garden centres across the UK. We hold plenty of stock here for short lead times, offer free carriage on your first order, and keep ordering simple - flexible quantities for independents, scalable for larger accounts. Wholesale pricing gives a healthy retail margin across every range.

Meet us at Home & Gift Harrogate 2026

We'll be exhibiting at Home & Gift, Harrogate's premier trade buying festival, from 19-22 July 2026 - find us on stand C-B39 in Hall C, near the Indigo Lounge. Come and see the full range in person, talk through wholesale terms, and place an order on the stand. If you'd like to arrange a time to meet, get in touch and we'll book you in.
